The short piece 'Cradle me hard' by Maximo Occhipinti and Moritz Haase exposes the contrasts a circus performer is confronted with day by day. Around their rarely seen prop, an aerial cradle, Max & Moritz give an insight into their life between carrying and lifting heavy weight and flying high as light as a feather. Fueled by their own experiences they give a demonstration of what it’s like to enter the red carpets of show business after a warm-up on some swampy backstage floor, constantly switching between roles may it be to classical music or the pulse of heavy techno beats. Sometimes these worlds clash and you find yourself face down on the crash mat before you get up, fix your make up, go up there and do it all over again.

The two friends, whose performance demands a lot of mutual trust, right timing, taking risks and relying on the other flip through the air whilst telling their story about letting go and being caught. Not taking themselves too seriously they dance and fly to the relentless beat of techno finding unity while trying to be so individual.

BOTTONED U by Maik Ortmann. - 30min

Buttoned Up is a contemporary solo circus work exploring queerness, fear, intimacy, and liberation – all through the metaphor of a man and his jacket.

Set in the intimacy of a living room with just an armchair, a lamp, and a tightwire, we meet him: quiet yet volatile, bound to his jacket. He hides in it, dances with it, battles it. The jacket becomes its own character, sometimes a friend, sometimes an enemy. Returning to him each time he tries to let it go.

Through floor acrobatics, tightwire walking, and physical theatre, the piece unfolds as a journey of conflict and longing: for connection, for recognition, for love. Buttoned Up is a poetic story of vulnerability and courage – for anyone who has ever hidden a part of themselves, and everyone who knows the power of being seen.
